Cooling Tower Selection for Middle East Climates
For UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain projects, the site-specific design conditions matter more than a generic catalog rating.
Wet-bulb and dry-bulb temperatures
For evaporative cooling towers, entering-air wet-bulb temperature, entering and leaving water temperatures and water flow define the thermal selection. Dry-mode equipment is constrained by ambient dry-bulb temperature. Do not select a catalog model rated at 28 °C wet-bulb for a hotter or more humid site without engineering re-selection. Confirm the applicable station and design percentile for your project city.

Site and delivery checklist
- City, design dry-bulb and wet-bulb temperatures, altitude
- Heat load or flow, fluid inlet and outlet temperatures
- Make-up water availability and analysis, including TSE or seawater where applicable
- Sand/dust exposure, coastal corrosion, installation clearance and noise limit
- Power supply, material preference and shipping destination

Open and closed cooling towers · Dry and hybrid coolers. A pure dry cooler cannot cool fluid below ambient dry-bulb temperature.
Example: Dubai 0.4% design wet-bulb is 29.8 °C (Eurovent Middle East Evaporative Cooling Guidebook, 2024), above the 28 °C catalog rating.
